Odessa’s ‘Operation Clean Sweep’ Aims to Beautify the City

In an effort to enhance the city’s appearance and safety, Odessa has launched ‘Operation Clean Sweep,’ a community-wide initiative aimed at reducing illegal dumping, littering, and related offenses. This program is set to be implemented across all districts, reflecting the city’s commitment to maintaining a cleaner environment for its residents.

Program Details

The initiative began with a two-week outreach campaign starting on February 23, 2026, focusing on educating residents about proper waste disposal and city ordinances. Residents were encouraged to dispose of bulk items at the Keep Odessa Beautiful Facility, located at 814 W. 42nd Street. The facility operates Monday to Friday from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. (closed from 12:00 p.m. to 1:00 p.m.) and on Saturdays from 8:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. For more information, residents can call 432-335-4686.

Community Involvement

Recognizing the vast area of Odessa—spanning over 52 square miles—and the limited number of Code Enforcement Officers, the city emphasizes the importance of community participation. Residents are encouraged to stay informed about city ordinances and actively participate in keeping their neighborhoods clean.

Looking Ahead

As ‘Operation Clean Sweep’ progresses, the city plans to roll out similar initiatives in other districts, aiming for a comprehensive approach to city-wide cleanliness and safety. Residents are urged to stay engaged and contribute to the ongoing efforts to beautify Odessa.
